A message from Sari on COVID-19

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" – Fred Rogers

Wow, what a week, what a month. the COVID-19 outbreak is changing our lives daily, and in these times of uncertainty we’re searching more than ever for closeness, connection, and compassion. And we’re hoping, like Mr. Rogers says, that we can be the helpers.

How we're adapting
BooginHead is a small, woman-owned business, and we are all working from home (with all our kids!) and maintaining strict social distancing – we are endeavoring to have only one person working in the office at a time. We've also bumped up our already-exacting sanitary and cleanliness procedures, and we encourage all our friends, family, and customers to take precautions, listen to the experts, and stay as safe, healthy, and socially distant as you can.

To the heroes
There will be many people who cannot quarantine, social distance, or work from home. To our many service workers, our medical workers, and anyone who’s livelihood prevents them from participating in self-quarantine, we are so grateful! To keep you as safe as possible, to protect our health and yours, we are doing everything we can to limit our interactions in public space, and we thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do and the sacrifices you make.

Being the helpers
When Mr. Rogers says to look for the helpers, he is talking to children. So, who are the helpers children should be looking for? It is us, the adults in their lives. Children are looking to *us* to be the helpers. Seattle and our tiny town of Issaquah have been hit hard. We are actively looking for ways to be the helpers Mr. Rogers talks about and be the role models our kids need to see right now.

Let's take care of each other!
We look forward to sharing how we’re making a difference! Forging community and connection will carry us through, and we’re glad we’re here with you!

We’re planning some online hangouts, some Instagram Lives, some livetweeting, some knowledge sharing – anything we can do to connect with our BooginHead family and friends while we’re all stuck inside. Stay safe, be well, and let’s take care of each other.

Love,
The BooginHead Team
